I made it! My weight loss journey.

I am excited to share that I have reached my goal of 60 pounds lost! Woohoo!

I'm beyond excited!

I've never really shared my weight on here...mostly because its something I've been very self-conscious of & embarrassed about. I think I've only told Matt & my friend Mellany. Until now! haha!

I've decided to share a timeline of my journey. Only to encourage anyone out there that it is possible to lose weight. When you feel like you are trapped and not able to lose weight...I want to give you hope that I was that girl! I thought I wouldn't be able to lose weight ever...but I have and I am and I will continue to (probably about 10 more lbs).

I can only go back as far as December of 2008...the numbers get blurry before that...but they were not good! I've been overweight since about 9th grade...probably before but thats when I remember starting to be aware of it more. So...here goes!

  • December 2008. Found out I was pregnant with Simeon.Weighed about 210 lbs.
  • August 5, 2009. Simeon was born. Weighed in at 245 lbs before delivery.
  • October 14, 2009. Back down to 206 lbs. Joined Weight Watchers on this day.
  • Today. July 19, 2010. Hit my 60 lb goal! Today I weigh 146 lbs. A number I haven't seen in 15+ years.
  • Hoping to lose 10 more lbs by October 14, 2010. Then I can just maintain.:)

I hope this encourages you to start today! Start small. My first goal was 5 lbs! Make small changes & they will add up to big ones! I'd love to journey with you as you pursue weight loss...if that is a path you are on. I want to be your biggest fan! Email me!

There is one overall greatest thing about how I feel being 60 lbs lighter. There are many things...but one huge thing. That's another blog post though....
stay tuned in the next week or so!

So...how should I celebrate? Any Suggestions?

I wanted to take a picture this morning. Of course Eli thinks the new tripod is the coolest "crane" in the world so he wanted to be in my picture. I was letting him push the button and then run & jump in the picture. His pressing the button includes playing with the tripod & loosening all the cranks causing the camera to tip...which resulted in some funny shots! :) So...here are the bloopers. They made me laugh...especially when Eli asked if it was a good one...then looked at the one with our head cut off & said "It's a little blurry momma...one more time." haha...think he's heard that before! (plus we are head-less...but he didn't notice)

Shelly, you are amazing!
You have totally inspired me to join weight watchers. I finished my first week and lost 2.9 pounds. I have a post scheduled tomorrow talking about it.
Oh, and by the way - I am so proud of you for posting your starting weight and current weight. That's brave, although I think you would be surprised at the complete LACK of judgement from other women. I wasn't even sure that I wanted to talk about doing weight watchers, because I tend to be really private about the whole weight issue. But, I thought that you shared and are such an inspiration - I can do it too. You should start a weight watchers wednesday!
Oh, and I think you should definitely go shopping for some new clothes and get a pedicure!!!!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your "online celebrating" with me! :)

Reagan ---why does there have to be 45 miles between us? That sounds fantastic!

Delane ---I am so excited for you! What a great first week! That totally counts as 3 lbs! That is so awesome! Doesn't it make you want to keep up with the eating plan when you see that number falling. I hope you feel great about it! Did you join weight watchers online or in your town? I'm excited to read your post tomorrow! I do write Weight Watchers Wednesday...did you mean that you should start doing WWW on your blog too? I totally think you should!
I do need to go shopping. I'm hoping to have an interview in the next week or so & just realized I have ABSOLUTELY NO professional clothing that fits me. A pedicure sounds great too! :)

Shelly, you inspired me to start the "smart machines" at Curves. Been at it for 6 weeks. Is amazing how much better I feel, not to mention the pounds being shed. Seeing you stick with the eating plan through holidays, and situations where you might have strayed convinced me that it really is about changing your life. Thank you for being dedicated to living and providing a healthy lifestyle not only for you but for Matt, Elijah and Simeon.
