I don't know about you...but I LOVE getting real mail. I'm not talking about bills or Kmart ads...I mean a real note or card from a dear friend. I love handwriting. I love the little smiley faces and doodles that people tack on next to their name. It means the world to me.
I also completely stink at sending real mail.
I regularly (a few times a year for the last 5 or so years) take turns writing real letters back and forth with my dear sweet Great-Aunt Sugar who lives in Alabama. I try to get thank you cards out for gifts...but I hate to say I still haven't got my Christmas thank-yous out. :( I used to be so much better at sending real notes of encouragement and thanksgiving to friends than I am now. My friend Jen totally rocks at this. She spends her summers across the country and I always get several pieces of mail from her over the summer and I LOVE IT! Another time I was the recipient of a blessing via my mailbox was when I was in high school. I got a card from a friend of mines mom (Becky Lyles). I didn't even know her very well...but she sent me the kindest card and I still remember exactly what it said and it has been a blessing on my life for the last 14 years.
So this is something I really want to get better at. Not only because I have been the recipient and know how life-giving and encouraging it is to receive mail written especially for me, but also because I love to send notes to the people I love, telling them how special they are. When I take the time to write out a quick note to them...it reminds me to pray for them and it reminds me where my focus in life should be...on others!
I really want to get better at this.
So when I saw an opportunity to review these cards from Dayspring...I jumped on it. What a great gift they were to me. They are all bright fun colors with fun and spunky pictures...perfect to brighten a close girlfriend's day. They all include an encouraging Bible verse on the inside. Dayspring also gifted me with this...which is a very fun card organizer. It is a handy little thing that holds cards and has a slot for every month of the year and a sturdy divider to write the important dates from that month on. But the thing I really love about it is how solid it is. It was perfect to use as a little hard surface so I could sit back on the couch and write out cards under my blanket, while sipping my coffee and watching the football game with my boys. It was so relaxing! So, I am thankful for the free products Dayspring sent me. They are nice quality cards and now I know how handy it is to have a stack of cards readily available to send to friends. I think I will continue to watch Daysprings deals and order more card packs. Sending encouraging cards "just because" is really a lifestyle practice I want to get back into.
Have you been the recipient of any "fun mail" lately? Leave a comment sharing how much of a blessing it was in your life...I would love to hear it. Maybe it will get me motivated to get those thank-you cards done. :)
DaySpring gave me free product to review, but all opinions stated are my own.

I grew up with a mom who was excellent at sending mail. Making us write thank you notes happened naturally. I find it to be such a chore and I seriously am awful at getting cards in the mail. I vow every new years to do better.
I was talking to a mom of a freshman girl in college and I asked her if Kendall sits by the mail box waiting for mail. I remember doing that every afternoon. She said, no. She hasn't sent her a package yet. Made me so sad. Real mail is so good.
I want to make a caddy filled with fun stuff to write letters and devote one day a month to sitting with the boys to write letters, thank yous, etc. Doesn't that sound organized and fulfilling...I have yet to do it.
You will find if you do this that you will get very little in return...unfortunately it IS a lost art. But if you can look at it as something you're DOING for someone else, with no hope of reciprocation, it's fantastic. The few times a year I actually get a response from someone is like Christmas. Honestly, I enjoy sending more than getting mail even. I make the kids send stuff too...thank you notes (ALWAYS!!) and pictures to their grandparents and cousins...trying to cultivate this for the next generation. Hopefully it will pass on to at least one of them! I love to get blank cards and fun cards at the Curiosity Shoppe...it's so fun when you see just the right card for a certain person. I've always been a letter writer...book reader, letter writer--I must be living in the wrong era:)
